McRaven was built during three different
periods in time. The first part of McRaven was built in 1797 by
Andrew Glass. McRaven's original bedroom built at the same time
is still intact. All of the furniture in this room is of the period,
some of which is original to the house.
Left is a photo of the
bedroom as it is today, as well as owner Leyland French in period
costume.

The second part of the house was built in 1836 by Sheriff Stephen
Howard
in the Empire Style. Howard's addition includes the bedroom
where his wife
Mary Elizabeth died in 1836, and the dining room
in the middle part of the house.

The final part of the house was finished in 1849 by John Bobb in
the Greek Revival Style. This includes the parlor, hallway with
flying wing staircase, the Gentleman's dressing room, the master
bedroom, and the outside front of the house.
