2. What is EMF? | McRaven Tour Home | MS Most Haunted House
Welcome back to Inside McRaven! The blog for all things History, Hauntings and Vicksburg happenings! At McRaven we hold monthly ghost investigations and we would love to have you join us whether you’re a seasoned ghost hunter with lots of experience or if you’ve never even seen a ghost show!
Paranormal investigating is a whole other world and so you are likely going to hear words and phrases and see things that you probably won’t recognize from day-to-day life but we want to do our best to make sure all our guests are in the loop!
One of the most common phrases we use is E.M.F. which stands for electro-magnetic field. An electromagnetic field is a physical field produced by electrically charged objects. It affects the behavior of charged objects in the vicinity of the field. The electromagnetic field extends indefinitely throughout space and describes the electromagnetic interaction. Unexplained jumps in the EMF could indicate that a spirit is near because they can manipulate with field and hopefully therefore communicate with us by doing so.
Most of the equipment we use at McRaven during our investigations will measure EMF such as k2 meters, Rooks, Rem Pods, etc. One of the things that we ask guests to stay mindful of when they are investigating is to keep their phones, electronic devices and any wires/plugins away from the equipment since all of this these things can interfere with the EMF and could result in false positives.
Follow along on future blog post as we continue to talk about the lingo and equipment you’ll see at McRaven’s monthly ghost investigations and come investigate “Mississippi’s Most Haunted House” for yourself! Join us next time on Inside McRaven for more history, hauntings and Vicksburg happenings!
